Look at Me! Representing Self - Representing Ageing

Seven days of social science research

The ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) is exploring all areas of our lives, using the different days of the ‘Monday’s child’ nursery rhyme to focus on particular areas of research funded by the ESRC.

Each week from Monday 23 April they will publish a new video and articles about related research.

Monday's Child is fair of face curtsey of the NDA funded Look at Me! Project

How is beauty, attraction and body image perceived in our society? Research shows that good looks gives an advantage in confidence and interaction with other people, and can potentially boost career and salary. But a focus on looks and body image can also generate more insecurity and negative perceptions about one’s own body, not least among teenagers, and sideline older people as irrelevant in a society for the young and good-looking.

See the ESRC  website for the Look at Me video and further information.
