GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting brings together more than 3,500 of the brightest minds in the field of aging. This meeting is the premier gathering of gerontologists from both the United States and around the world. They participate in over 500 scientific sessions including symposia, paper, and poster presentations.

INDEPENDENCE OR DEPENDENCE IN LATER LIFE? EVIDENCE FROM THE NEW DYNAMICS OF AGEING PROGRAMME

This symposium reflects the theme of transitions of care and, specifically, the topic of the loss of independence and autonomy associated with the need for care in later life. Its objective is to examine the causes and outcomes of autonomy loss from a mixture of perspectives:  life course, macro policy, individual and professional.
